2.Karma : I would say that the best way to farm Karma is by having an active World vs World guild. By capping Towers, Camps, Dolyaks, Sentries and Keeps you may be able to keep the Karma Going. Also, never forget to do the daily Achievements, which rewards you a jug that grants you 4.5k karma. Each Piece of Invader's gear (WvW Karma Gear) costs
PvE: It takes 150 Legendary Insights to obtain the first set of Legendary raid armor. With the weekly cap of 15 Legendary Insights, this will take 10 weeks of reaching the required amount. However there is a 2nd time gate of collecting Faction Provisioner Tokens, the fastest this can be done is 22 days.You won't make significant money just from completing events, gold comes from the drops. Stop saving materials and random items - sell everything (apart from rares that sell less than 90% of ecto price - anything below 35s currently. Salvage these for ectos) You can easily make 10-15g a day just doing daily stuff.
Doesn't work for towns though. As far as I know, there's no limit on this. You could save around 150 gold to buy 400 gems for a total makeover kit. You could wear a mask, helm or hood so you don't see your nose. You could also delete and remake your necromancer. If you're level 20, now is the time to do it.
